Denim hacking

Up to 10000 litres of water are used to make one pair of jeans which then is transported 10000 km by boat and up to 4000 km by truck to get to the local store.

And when the consumer finished with them, maybe they donate them, or maybe they don’t. At the same time, garment waste is clogging the landfill sites.

Besides the effort in recycling denim, this project also aims at provoking a sense of awareness amongst consumers. As a citizen of the Earth, knowing the environmental impact we are having, we should all aim to be more conscientious while buying any item.

When sustainability is the key factor in the Next Economy, it is high time for designer to give new lease of life to used materials.

Denim Hacking is the project which explores the possibilities that disposed KOI jeans can give in terms of form, layering, material combination.
